🍚 Rice Cooker Chicken Rice

A dorm-friendly version of Hainanese chicken rice, made entirely in a rice cooker.

🧂 Ingredients

  • 1 cup jasmine rice
  • 1 chicken thigh (bone-in or boneless)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 garlic cloves (smashed)
  • 2 slices ginger
  • 1 tsp chicken stock powder or salt
  • 1½ cups water

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Rinse rice and place in rice cooker pot.
  2. Add garlic, ginger, sesame oil, stock powder, and water.
  3. Place chicken on top of rice.
  4. Cook in rice cooker (use automatic cook mode) until done.
  5. Slice chicken and serve with rice, and soy sauce or chili sauce.

💡 Tips

  • Add a few cucumber slices or blanched greens on the side.
  • Use boneless thigh for faster cooking.
  • Add a pandan leaf if available for aroma.
